Ignite Your Mind, Join the Dialogue: Where Every Thought Is a Journey
The School of Athens by Raphael is a true masterpiece that showcases the greatest minds of ancient Greece. The painting features a diverse group of philosophers, including Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates, engaging in deep discussions and debates. Each philosopher in the painting represents a unique perspective on the world and its mysteries, making it a must-see for anyone interested in philosophy.
In "The School of Athens," Raphael masterfully portrays different stories through the gestures, interactions, and symbols of the depicted philosophers. Through the central figures of Plato and Aristotle engaged in discourse, he encapsulates the ongoing philosophical debate between idealism and empiricism. Surrounding them, the varied poses and expressions of the other philosophers convey diverse intellectual traditions and narratives, illustrating the rich tapestry of ancient thought. Additionally, Raphael employs architectural elements and symbolic details to further enrich the visual storytelling, inviting viewers to delve deeper into the philosophical themes and historical contexts represented within the painting.
My research project is built on three different aspects centred around the fresco painting The School of Athens, researching the figures and discovering their stories, recreating these ancient figures using AI, and formatting it to a website for others to experience. For formatting I followed the MLA 9th edition standard, with the uniqueness of the sources there were a lot of challenges when citing them making it vital for organisation to stick to with one style.
The bibliography is broken into four sections, citations for the famous painting Philosophy (known colloquially as The School of Athens), citations for the A.I. research into creating a digital replication of the real-world ancient philosophers, citations for the philosophers to include multiple citations for each individual, and citations for the stories that are told in the painting.
